I dont know about anyone else but of course ive studied elightment alot ofcourse and at one point swore that this could change my life....but the thought is to lose all sense of self and yada yada...and its good in theory....but EXTREMLY hard in practice...to lose your "super-ego" goes against an evolutionary progress our species has taken...is it possible yes...buddas do it (so they say) but i do believe its possible....but simply realizing that the things we think and the negative emotions we feel about people, things, ideas and so on are part of this "super-ego"...if you can be completely honest with yourself (which is hard to do but the people on this forum [most of them] seem to have the level of mind to accomplish this) you can see WHY you feel the way you do....example....say someone says something that i find "dumb"...but someone else laughs at it and thinks it was clever...i retaliate with a snide comment and the same person that laughed with him laughs at him now and found my joke funnier....why did i say what i said?...because i want to be SPEACIAL...different...thats part of my structure...part of my mind that has been developed by evolution....and i am honest enough with myself to REALIZE that its my super-ego (this is what most people call "themselves") that wanted to say something....but the person i said something about has one too right?....so when he said his initial comment he was trying to feed this ego also...but i won...so i obtain momentary happiness...i believe this need to be right, better, different (because even being looked down upon is being different and some people feed off negitive attention just the same) is an evolutionary trait we humans have developed due to our intelegence...we arnt perfect...and traits will still be weeded out once survival of the fittest take effect

So i say all this for this reason....trying to obtain true enlightenment i believe is hard based on our ingrained need to be different...but if you simply look at yourself when you do things of feel bad, or hate, or stress, or WHATEVER....if you see it for what it is...a NEED to be different.. and at the same time accept that other people have the same thing....so any negative things these people say to you or about you is all because they have an inert NEED to be different...its alot easier to accept things when you know its true nature....so simply "knowledge is power" on a whole different level

Maybe when the Buddha realized supreme enlightenment, he realized that the Universe had already provided him with everything he needed. So, he gained nothing because he already had everything... he just consciously realized what his subconscious already knew, which is why it was called supreme enlightenment.
